Magnetics in Medicine:
Wednesday, 30 June 2010 at Cardiff Medicentre, Heath Park, Cardiff CF14 4UJ
Download Programme

Magnets and magnetic sensors are now found in many different medical and biological applications, which include magnetic nanoparticles for drug release and cancer detection, magnetic sensors with magnetic microtags for encoding biochemicals, such as DNA and antibodies and biomagnetic retraction during surgery. This seminar will look at these different aspects of magnetics in medicine and biomagnetics.

For further information, please contact Jane Ward at the UK Magnetics Society on jward@ukmagsoc.co.uk , tel: +44 (0)1235 770652 fax: +44 (0)12235 772295 or visit www.ukmagsoc.org .

The Westin Hotel, Valencia, Spain 24-27 February 2010

Coordinators:
John Middleton, Sam L Evans, Cathy
Holt (Cardiff University, UK)
Christopher Jacobs (Columbia University, USA)
Brian Walker (Arup, UK)
Carlos Altienza (IBV, Spain)

The 9th meeting of this series was held at the Westin Hotel in Valencia and this was attending by more than 300 international delegates. Over 30 plenary talks were given by eminent speakers from throughout the world and these were supported by a further 220 oral and 50 poster presentations. Full details of the meeting can still be found on the website www.cmbbe2010.cf.ac.uk  together with a full list of the symposium prize winners and other details of the meeting.

We wish to remind authors of all presentations, plenary/ keynote/ contributed/ poster presentations, that we need your full length manuscripts for the proceedings by the real deadline of April 30th 2010. Note this is a real deadline due to administrative changes. Full
details for the preparation of manuscripts can be found on the website by clicking on Manuscript and Publication and we would ask you to follow these instructions carefully: http://www.cmbbe2010.cf.ac.uk/pages/manuscriptpublication.htm
We intend to publish the CD of the proceedings in July 2010 and therefore ask that you respond to the deadline for submission of your paper as quickly as possible.

Previous proceedings for CMBBE:

The proceedings of the CMBBE2008 symposium contains a single pdf file containing over 170 manuscripts of approx 6 pages each. All papers are linked back to the contents page at the start of the file. The CD covers the latest trends and advances in the fields of computational biomechanics and contains over 2500 references in the following areas: Cardiovascular Mechanics, Computational Biofluids, Dynamics and Impact, Dental/Facial Biomechanics, Imaging Systems, Motion Analysis, Orthopaedics and Devices, Soft Tissue Simulation, Spine Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering.

CD for CMBBE2008 (ISBN 978-0-9562121-0-8): Cost €50 or £45 including postage.
