Greenwich University London. 29th October 2009
Chairs: John Nicholson (University of Greenwich) and Cathy Holt (Cardiff University)

Next CMBBE meeting:

9th International Symposium on Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering: http://www.cmbbe2010.cf.ac.uk/

The Westin Hotel, Valencia, Spain 24-27 February 2010

Scope and objectives:
We are pleased to invite both new and previous participants to CMBBE2010 which is to be held at the Westin Hotel, Valencia, Spain, 24–27 February 2010. The themes and topics for this 9th symposium in the series have been developed through interaction with international experts and therefore reflect the latest development in computer methods in biomechanics, biomedical technology and modelling of biological structures. Key objectives are to highlight and communicate new areas of future potential as well as presenting new techniques that are being successfully applied across medical technology, biomechanics and the healthcare sector. Interdisciplinary research which overarches medical technology, imaging/tissue characterisation, biosciences and applications in clinical practice will be placed at the forefront of the meeting agenda.

8th International Symposium on Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering:

The proceeding of CMBBE2008 which was held in Porto in February-March 2008 has now been published by Arup.

PHD studentships at Cardiff in new ARC Biomechanics and Bioengineering Centre:

Several PhD studentships are available in our new Arthritis and Rheumatism Campaign Biomechanics and Bioengineering Centre. This exciting multidisciplinary project brings together expertise in biomechanics, biomaterials, biology, rheumatology, pharmacy, orthopaedics and rehabilitation to try to understand the biomechanical basis of arthritis and developments of new treatments.
We are aiming to recruit five or six students to start in October 2009
